This endeavour is almost certainly a marketing tool for the upcoming Far Cry 6 planned for released in October this year. We’ve long talked about our love for demos and this goes a step further by simply giving you free access to the whole game in exchange for a shorter access time, so go nuts. Play it for yourself and come to your own conclusion. That’s the great thing about the free weekend, however, because you don’t need to take our word for it.
We gave up on Far Cry 5 after only a handful of hours and a couple of play sessions because of this. It seems the Far Cry series has been endlessly recycling the formula that was established back in 2012 with Far Cry 3.

PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC (Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Connect) as well as Google Stadia all get access. This free weekend is between 5th August and 9th August, but preloading of the game is open right now from here. Like many other titles in the past Far Cry 5 will have a free weekend where players can experience the entirety of the paid product with the only restriction being time – as soon as the free weekend ends so does access to the game. If you didn’t have any games lined up to play this weekend one just popped up for free in the form of Far Cry 5.
